Computer Service Centre welcomes two new team members to our Support Department

We are delighted to announce two new team members, David Sutherland and Robert Gray. David and Robert bring nearly 30 years of experience into our Support Department, further expanding the knowledge base and skillset which is already enjoyed by our customers.

In recent months we have been investing in all of our departments and these latest recruits will allow us to achieve another milestone of twenty five full time members of staff working within five departments based at Meridian Business Park.

SNS 2012 – Sea of Opportunities

Computer Service Centre attended the EEEGR SNS 2012 conference on Thursday 1st March at the John Innes Centre in Norwich.

The event was billed as “the most important conference for the offshore energy industry in the East of England. The Southern North Sea Conference 2012 will be the biggest and best conference that EEEGR has delivered yet and we are honoured to play host to highest profile speakers of international renown” and did not disappoint, proving to be a very interesting and beneficial conference.

It was clear to us from this event that the renewable energy sector in the East of England offers a host of opportunity to forward-thinking local businesses and Computer Service Centre are already involved in this as providers of all IT services to Scira Offshore Energy for the Sheringham Shoal wind farm.

Forget BYOB, Now It’s BYOD – Bring Your Own Device.

In February 2012 Christopher Cooper, director at Computer Service Centre, shared his views on the latest growing trend of ‘Bring Your Own Device’ with the Institute of Directors.

Christopher – a fan of tablets and technical innovation – advised a considered and cautious approach to BYOD stating “we’re advising our clients against BYOD as our default position” but tempered with the statement that “depending on your analysis of the risks and rewards, you might want to consider a switch to a BYOD policy. Just be aware of the inherent risks and stay focused on security – and involve your IT manager or adviser…”.

The key message here is security and responsibility for all devices connected to your network.

Remote working options for productivity all year round

In November 2012, Jeremy Clarke wrote an article for the Institute of Directors discussing the topic of remote working solutions for businesses. Remote working is, of course, useful for many reasons but not least during the winter months when getting snowed in can make the difference between a productive day and a day off.

With good provision in place for remote working, your business can be virtually uneffected by inclement weather and your teams can achieve their daily milestones regardless of their location.

We are very pleased to announce the winning of a new contract to provide IT services to the Sheringham Shoal Wind Farm for Scira Offshore Energy.

The awarding of the contract follows what has been an involved open tender process seeing Computer Service Centre fend off competition from much larger multinational businesses.

A key factor in helping secure the contract was the alignment of our company culture and work ethos with that of the Scira team.

Computer Service Centre are therefore pleased to announce our two latest additions to the company – Tom Blake and Andy Roberts. Both have joined the support department and are responsible for ensuring that our customers continue to receive the highest levels of service possible.

Bringing with them a mix of skills and experience having worked within the IT industry for a number of years, Tom and Andy have already made a big impact on the department and have helped to ensure that cases are closed and issues resolved as quickly and completely as possible.
